Our story

IMG_0769 2.HEIC

Having always had an affinity to the sea, surfing and all things ocean, Victoria Tar's  ceramics started to show a conceptual narrative to the sea, and with glazing tones and textures, a natural connection between land and sea developed.

Victoria’s creative career started at Stover School in Devon, followed by a degree in Fine Art at UWE, Bristol, specialising in Contemporary Sculpture. A progression into the world of Interior Design followed for 15 years, which included projects such as Claridges Hotel and many high-end developments, hotels and residential projects. It was a natural progression to move into creating homewares in her ceramics, and she loves the idea of bringing the natural, calming tones of the sea inside the home with her pieces.

One of her early pieces, named the Seascape Vase, instantly reminded Victoria of the beach with waves breaking on the sand, and hence the name was formed – Seascape Ceramics. Victoria concentrates on home-wear products and has a particular focus on perfecting the mug, as well as bowls, plates, dishes, soap dishes and bud vases. She also creates one-off art pieces. All items are inspired by the sea and reflected through the combination of layering glazes over the fired clay. She likes to create textures and colours, which conjure up memories for the person using the pieces of fond time by the sea.

Victoria is also a keen surfer and many of her pieces are related to places she has visited around the world connecting her travels with the ocean.
